This month we have a fictional story written by Hal Gentry over 70 years ago.  Many new residents may not know about the Tide Mill, which features in the story, so to set the scene there is a description of the area by Charlie Langlands.

A photo of the mill is shown on the front cover and drawings by Syd Bruce on the workings of the mill.  Phyll Hendy has written about Hal Gentry who was her godfather.  The stories were sold in Gentry’s Café for 6d.  Thank you to Terry Lilley for giving us this one.  Are there any more about?

September sees the traditional change of the farming year at Michaelmas (29th).  You are invited to the Harvest Festivals being held at both the Parish Church and Methodist Church on Sunday, September 23rd, followed by the Harvest Lunch - see the diaries for times.

Deadline for the October magazine  - September 12th.
