WHY A WEB SITE
PARISH WEBSITE PROPOSED

The headline above is a photograph of part of one of the display boards sited around the village Hall Annexe during a specially arranged opportunity for St Osyth and Point Clear residents to examine the final Draft Local Plan and speak to and raise queries with one of the two District Council planning officers present. Visitors could also complete a form with their personal comments either for or against proposals in the plan which will eventually be seen by the Government Inspector.

The meeting took place on Tuesday 11th December and was open for business from 2 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. It was set up by Sonia Grantham, Parish Council Chairman, in consultation with the District Council, because she felt that our residents deserved a 'Parish' opportunity to view aspects of the Draft Plan approved by the District Council on 11th September and to submit their views on the official form before the period of consultation ends on the 7th January 2013.

Some of the visitors to the display. The gentleman in the blue shirt is Richard Matthams Planning Policy Team Leader, to his right Sonia Grantham our Chairman, next to Sonia is Neil Williams our Parish clerk, who had set up in one corner (see the two pictures above) a Power Point presentation which scrolled through the headline pages of the draft plan including areas in St Osyth where development could take place. Next to Neil is District and Parish Councillor John White, whose speciality as a Councillor is planning matters. Next to John is Parish councillor Colleen Peverell attending to show visitors where matters of particular interest may be found. Parish Councillor Alan Rolfe was present to help out but is not in this photograph.

The above pictures were taken between 2.30 p.m. and 4.30 p.m. at which time I left the meeting which continued on until 7.30 p.m. In total just under 100 people visited during the afternoon and early evening, with many expressing their pleasure of having a face to face discussion with a District Council Officer. Gary Guiver the Development Plan Manager was also present.
