This year’s autumn show on the 30th August was the culmination of effort on the part of exhibitors at the show, after suffering a year of rather strange weather. Dry when we wanted rain, Hot when it would normally be cold. It has been a year of knowing what we expected weather wise, only to actually receive the exact opposite.
There were 260 entries exhibited which though down a bit on previous years, possibly because of a last minute change of date, were well up to the usual high standard seen at our shows. The floral exhibits were absolutely magnificent and the produce from our exhibitor’s kitchen’s both smelt and looked too good to eat. (But I will try if asked!)
The sixty nine photographs below were taken during the afternoon and I think they show the beauty of the flower classes and the home produce, so I do not intend to spoil your enjoyment of the page by useless commentary, except where a note is required.

The above picture shows the village hall annexe used by visitors to the Harvest Show, enjoying a break for some refreshments.
The kitchen below was manned by committee members who spent the afternoon serving cups of tea or coffee with homemade cakes. Christine Chadbourne and Elizabeth Dawtry with extra help from Maxine Baker
The small picture right, shows Christine Harman organising Cups and Trophies with Sue McAree ready for today’s prize winners

Above is the group, who identify and present prizes to the winners of the various awards. From the left they are Councillor Michael Talbot, President of the Horticultural Society, who will actually present the show winners with their awards; Lesley Grimwood, Treasurer (partly hidden behind) Dulcie Evans, Society Chairman; Sue McAree, Membership Secretary on stage; Christine Harman, Vice-Chairman and Show Organiser and Secretary.
Pictured below are some of the award winners receiving their prizes . The Cups and Trophies can be seen on the table behind the presentation party above.
