WELCOME VICAR

The Church Flower Festival always seems to bring a surprise subject as its theme each year. Who would have thought of a Flower Show associated with book titles as a subject.
As the programme tells visitors “Our talented arrangers have chosen to illustrate a very varied range from History to Cooking, Thrillers to Romances, Classics to Children’s Books”. A good example was ‘The Railway Children’ in the entrance porch, a display that visitor s will see first on entry.
In the Bell Tower a ‘Stained Glass’ craftsman, Mr Jonathon Rowntree was working and he was very happy to explain his work to those who ask him questions.
Our local Priory Art Group put a selection of their work on display, unconnected with the festival book theme but a delight to view.
Volunteers were around the Church to help answer queries, some were manning stalls and others provided refreshments in the Church room. The two parishioners pictured in front of the red table with programmes in their hands, I will refer to as the ‘guardians of gate’, selling the £1 programmes on Saturday with no exceptions allowed from contributing to this fund raising effort.
For those who attended over the three days of the Festival, it was probably the best value for any £1 spent over the Bank Holiday Weekend.

You have seen a selection of pictures taken around our Parish Church on Saturday and intended to give you a flavour of the Festival Event.
If you were not able to be present with us, or live too far away to consider attending then this page can only be second best. Unfortunately the pictures are too small to read many of ‘Book Titles’ that are part of each floral display.
The final four pictures are the Priory Art Groups display of paintings.
