60th ANNIVERSARY OF
THE SECOND WORLD WAR

THE anniversary for VE Day is May 8th and VJ Day is August 16th.  The official date set for the nation is July 10th 2005, between the two.  The Historical Society Exhibition will be held in the Village Hall on July 29th, 30th and 31st.  I would be pleased to have short articles on your war memories to do with the ‘Home Front’ and victory celebrations.

CAN YOU HELP PLEASE?

I AM researching, for use in 2005, life and times in St Osyth during the Second World War.  Information gathered may be used for the July Exhibition, but more importantly will be held at the Archives for posterity.

Were you living here, working on the Homefront, or were you stationed here in the Navy, Army or Marines?  Do you have any photographs of wartime events, wartime weddings or maybe a street party?

We are looking for details of the people named on the War Memorial, their families, where they lived etc.

Please help me compile a worthwhile record of those six momentous years, if possible by the end of March 2005.
