PARENT GOVERNORS
Mrs Maxine Franklin, one of our existing Parent Governors, has reluctantly had to resign from her post due to ever-increasing work commitments.  Although her time of office has sadly been short, we have thanked her sincerely for the time she had been able to give.

Following the recent Parent Governor election, it is with great pleasure that we are able to inform you that three new Parent Governors are now in office - Mrs Nicky Underwood, Mr Tony Page and Mrs Val Beatty.  We were very delighted to have four nominations for the vacancies, indicating to us that parents are genuinely interested in the life and running of this school for the benefit of the children.  They have already been working in school.

Mrs Beatty has been cooking as well as sharing her experiences and knowledge of the newspaper industry with children in the middle school.  Mr Page has been working with the Year 1 children and Mrs Underwood will be assisting with the Maths HoP.

We are pleased to be able to go into the future (and our Ofsted) with a full complement of our Governing Body.

SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE
Sadly the rain and cold on the morning of Monday 12th November meant that we were not able to make our annual journey to the War Memorial at Cowley Park for our Service of Remembrance.
We did, however, hold a special service in school that morning when the children remembered the many sacrifices that have been made by others in the past.
We were pleased to welcome Rev. Martin Flowerdew who joined us for the service.

COLCHESTER CASTLE VISIT
The Middle School visit to the Castle went extremely well.  The children had a very interesting time.  They were, as ever, extremely well behaved whilst on their visit and proved to be fine ambassadors for our school once again.

While there we were completely unaware of the outside world - while we enjoyed the ‘scareyness’ of the Dungeons we were totally oblivious to the blizzard and snow that was going on outside!  A fuller report will appear next month.

CAR DAMAGE IN PLAYGROUND
: Tuesday 6th November.
The bumper of one of our parents’ cars (a burgundy Mondeo) was badly damaged by a dark coloured car whilst parked in the playground during the Tuesday Parents Evening session between 6 and 9pm.  If it was possible that you were responsible, or you know who may have been, the parent concerned would be grateful to know.

This may be a timely opportunity to particularly ask visitors to take care when manoeuvring cars in the grounds on such occasions, particularly now that many of our events will take place after darkness has descended.

CHRISTMAS CD
Our fantastic Christmas CD is still available to purchase at £8.  I would encourage you to buy one for yourself and consider whether one might be an appropriate ‘stocking filler’ for members of your family or friends.  They are beautifully recorded and I know you, or your recipients, will not be disappointed.
The village community are welcome to come to the school office where the CDs are on sale. (See box at bottom)

CHAIRS PROJECT

What has become known as ‘Miss Clitheroe’s chairs’, has proved to be very popular with the children and they have worked hard on this Technology project.

We know the children are keen that parents should be able to see the results of their endeavours.  The chairs are on display in the Hall - please feel free to come in and have a look for yourselves.
