DUMONT LUNCHEON CLUB CHRISTMAS DINNER 2014

The last few Luncheon Guests arriving ready for the Christmas festivities.

Each year the Dumont Luncheon Club organises a special treat, a Christmas Lunch held this year on Thursday 18th December, where 96 people were to offered a typical Christmas fare of Roast Turkey, Chipolatas, Roast Potatoes, Brussel Sprouts, Baby Carrots, Individual Yorkshire Batter Pudding, Sage & Onion Stuffing, Red Current Jelly and Gravy as required, followed by Christmas Pudding with cream, then tea or coffee!

The picture below left shows Tina Edwards Dumont Club Chairman, speaking to members about the programme for today and wishing all present ‘bon appétit’.
To the right we see Wine or Fruit Juice being served to some of the top table guests. At the extreme end being served is Brenda Lord, who once again provided from Earls Hall Farm, free of charge, the turkeys we were eating. Brenda has made this gesture to the Club for many years now and Tina made a special point of thanking her on behalf of the Club Members.

The waiters and waitresses collecting meals at the kitchen hatch ready to serve to members anxiously waiting!

Inside the Hub of activity. Members have been in the Kitchen preparing the meal from quite early in the morning

Renee Lewis presenting Audrey, Secretary for fifteen years, with a gift arising from a members collection to mark her retirement.

Good food, Good drink, Good company amongst friends and a personal Christmas present to all, what else can one want at an event such as this? A lot of hard work from the Committee and helpers and all done for the benefit of elderly residents in Point Clear. Many of those attending are brought from their homes to the Hall by Tendring Community Transport, another volunteer service who exists to help!

Marjorie Talbot and Barbara Francis agreeing this meal is one of the best ever

Brenda Lord being thanked personally by one diner for the very tasty turkeys

It was Happy birthday for this lady, showing off some gifts she received for the camera. Members birthdays are celebrated at each of the weekly luncheons during the year.

Our musical entertainers for the afternoon, with plenty of old favourites to sing along to dragging memories of songs learnt many years ago, but still sung with gusto!

All sitting back now with a cup of tea or coffee having just finished their Christmas Pud!

Yet another successful event planned by the committee of the Dumont Luncheon Club. To feed 96 people is no mean task, but the empty plates collected up afterwards provide evidence that meal was well received by all.
