WHEN I opened the December/January magazine I had a great surprise. The week before I had seen the proof with the usual Editorial, on page 3, then I opened the magazine and saw the page of ‘thank yous’ and later was given a portfolio of more thanks. I greatly appreciate the encouragement you all gave by your comments. Thanks to Sonia who orgainsed it all, Colin at Entrac for finding the room to print it and all my team who help me. It was particularly cheering as we didn’t have good marks in the Annual Village Magazine Competition.
Congratulations to Great Bentley who came first, we tied third. On Boxing Day we were to see and hear about the Asian Tsunami which shocked so many of us. There is an article by a volunteer who has gone to help. At the ‘Rededication of the Bells’ service by the Bishop of Chelmsford on Sunday 19th January the collection went to the Tsunami Appeal. The school also had a ‘non-uniform’ day and collected more money.
Congratulations to Jean Smith, The Cycling Granny, for attaining her M.B.E. You will read what a full life she has had and still has. We look forward to hearing about her day at Buckingham Palace.
This year sees two big anniversaries - 60 years since the end of World War Two and 200 years since the Battle of Trafalgar. More about these events in the magazine.
Once again, advertising space is very short. The only spaces are for 1/16, 1/8 and 1/4 sizes. Please let Yvonne know in plenty of time if you want to advertise. Deadline - Monday 14th February.
