POINT CLEAR & ST OSYTH HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY
63rd ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

On the 21st October 2008 the Society held its Annual General Meeting in the village Hall Annexe. The meeting was very well attended and Dulcie Evans the Chairman commented as more members came in and extra chairs had to be put out, that perhaps the Society would have to use the main hall!
Reports were given by the officers and questions from the floor answered. The Chairman informed the meeting that all of last year’s officers were prepared to stand again for their positions subject to the agreement of members.

The financial position of the Society was such that a small surplus was achieved during the last year. It was noted that Kevin Jackson had been treasurer for the last nine years and was standing once again making ten years. Members applauded this comment from Dulcie our Chairman.

A vote was taken for each officer position and for members of the committee and all was agreed without a contrary vote.

A vote of thanks for the work done last year by the Committee was moved and agreed with acclamation.

After the formal business refreshments were provided for those attending.

The meeting moved on to a talk and slide show on Dahlias by Mr David Claydon, who for many years had exhibited many varieties of the plant, before himself becoming a Dahlia Judge.

His show took members through the whole process from the different types of dahlias, bringing the tubers into bud, taking cuttings, and tips on growing quality blooms. It was a really excellent presentation!
